Chelsea Filter is an extremely useful device in examining a wide variety of red, blue and green stones.
It was originally intended to rapidly differentiate between genuine Emeralds and the pastes and doublets, which resemble them, but it is a valuable aid in identifying other colored stones. It detects certain dyed and treated stones, accurately distinguishes the real nature of the gems from synthetic.
WARNING
Do not confuse with JADEITE Filter, which is primarily designed to distinguish other semi-precious green or greenish looking stones, such as Jade.
